Happy Belated New Year! We wish you a year of Health, Happiness, Peace & Love!
“Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.”
We had grand plans for January… and then life threw us a plot twist! But as always, we embraced the unexpected, made the best of it, and even found some hidden blessings along the way.
Revisiting the Pink Elephants & A Car That Thinks It’s in a Horror Film
The first Alternate Wednesday of the year kicked off with a replay of Return of the Pink Elephants from last year. (I’m hoping to update that playlist soon!)
The Story...
Why the replay? Well, we got stuck in Chicagoland after our car decided to have a complete existential crisis in the most bizarre way. Fortunately, if it had to happen, at least it happened while we were with family and near the one mechanic who understands our vehicle’s many quirks.
This month, we learned a crucial lesson about older cars: idiot lights aren’t just idiots—they’re pathological liars. They’ll flash and twinkle when nothing is wrong, like an overenthusiastic backup dancer. But when your radiator cracks and your car starts spewing neon fluids like it’s auditioning for a psychedelic horror film? Silence. Not a flicker. Not a glow. Just your engine quietly plotting its escape.
But hey, we made it back in one piece, just in time to celebrate our birthdays in good health—so we’ll call that a win!
If you are new, a Quick Note, {Links Are Pink!} you can click them and they will open a new window.
If you are new, a Quick Note: {Links Are Pink!} Yes, you read that right! They’re not just fashionable; they’re practically begging you to click them. Go ahead, give them a little poke! They’ll open a new window faster than your last online shopping spree! Just don’t blame us if you end up with a new collection of cat socks or a life-sized cardboard cutout of Nicolas Cage. Happy clicking!
Every January, I get hit with a tidal wave of nostalgia. I sink deep into reflection mode—celebrating, releasing, setting new goals, deep-cleaning, reorganizing… you know, the whole new-year-new-me-but-also-who-even-am-I thing. The Memory Dream: Part One was my sonic journey through that process, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Mr. Announcer Man’s birthday show! He picked some of his favorites—tracks we hadn’t yet played on the show. Because what’s a birthday without music and a little indulgence?
We were going to do a tribute to Brian Eno; to celebrate the 24-hour streaming Event of His Generative Film, “Eno”, {musical documentary film produced and directed by Gary Hustwit} but then we lost David Lynch. I got completely lost in his work, so instead, we created Behind the Red Curtain—a special birthday show in loving memory of his life and genius.
We had a fun Audities show lined up, but—surprise!—our internet provider decided that internet was optional for six days. So, in true Eclectic Wonderland style, we adapted. We replayed Eno, FoxxVoxx, & The Tiger Lily (Under The Influences: Part 2)—a deep dive into Eno’s work, his influence, the artists he produced, and the legends who inspired him.
I love tracing the threads of musical evolution, and Eno’s impact is truly fascinating.
The Eno Film is amazing. If you get a chance to catch it, I totally recommend it. I personally hope they stream it again. I am grateful for my Hotspot or I would have missed it since our internet was out. I am hoping to get a chance to stream it again with a better internet connection.
You can click that link & they will send you an email when they plan to stream it again!
RUMOR HAS IT: An Eclectic Podcast Might Be Brewing! That's right, folks! After countless suggestions and enough caffeine to power a small city, we’ve decided to entertain the idea of a podcast! Why? Because we love talking about music and playlists so much that our friends have started charging us for therapy sessions.
We tossed the idea out to the Universe, and guess what? It replied with a few cosmic giggles and a “Stay Tuned, we’re working on it!” So, grab your tin foil hats and get ready for some interstellar audio adventures!
And hold onto your headphones, because in 2025, we promise more interviews, laughter, and enough fun to make a cat meme jealous!
Looking Ahead
I had planned to blog about goal setting this month, but thanks to our unexpected internet hiatus, I’m playing a bit of catch-up. I’m in a class that wraps up on January 31st, so once I’m through that, I’ll be back at it! Hopefully, I’ll be able to share that blog post soon.
A Heartfelt Thank You & Happy New Year!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for listening, for being part of this adventure, and for embracing the unexpected with us.
May your new year be filled with music, laughter, creativity, and all the good things. And if you find yourself in a season of wintering, may it be restful, nourishing, and full of quiet magic.
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, and Harmonious New Year!
With love and gratitude,
DJ Tea & Mr Announcer Man
P.S. I’m thinking of including a grain-free birthday cake recipe—because what’s a birthday without cake? Stay tuned!
Here is a little summary about Wintering!
Wintering: The Art of Slowing Down
I recently discovered the term wintering, and it perfectly describes my post-holiday retreat mode.
Wintering is that season of life when we slow down, turn inward, and embrace rest—whether by choice or necessity. It’s about honoring the natural rhythm of things, giving ourselves space to reflect, recharge, and prepare for what’s next.
It can feel heavy at times, but wintering isn’t just about hibernation—it’s a vital part of growth. Like trees shedding their leaves in the fall, this period of stillness sets the stage for new beginnings.
If you’re feeling the pull to rest, reflect, and reset, you’re not alone. I highly recommend Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May if you want to dive deeper into this concept. {Click Here For More Info!}
